Some men should learn to juggle better

Image
This story is about Michael the Cyclist, who actually had some job in electrical engineering but kinda wanted to be a professional cyclist at the ripe old age of 28 - I think someone was dreaming a little bit too much. So Michael (yep he called himself Michael, not Mick or Mike - weird!) found me on Oasis and was to start with seemed very interesting, not to mention out of control HOT!!! So when he suggested we meet up, yes this was after the rule of penis pics was broken, I didn't think it was a bad plan... and I'll throw in there I was more than interested to see what he could do with that equipment. We met up probably 4 days after we started talking to each other, on a Monday night at Cott Beach to watch the sunset. This seemed lovely and romantic as the weather was still pretty good and I had assumed that we would be going for dinner after the sunset... clearly a bad assumption, but the date was nice, we watched the sunset, we talked and then things got a little bit cosy an...

The importance of a good profile pic

Image
So in an attempt to try and get to the goal of 5 dates in a week in competition with Dick last year, I downloaded and joined another dating app - tinder. I know it's harsh and people may say the same about mine, but really these are BAD profile pictures. Now I will admit.. I LOVE THIS APP.  It's so much fun because you don't know anything about the person other than their name, age, any mutual facebook friends, a brief description if they put one and any mutual likes on facebook.  It's very simple, you can't see who has seen you and all you have to do is say yes (swipe right) or no (swipe left). So what do you think would you swipe right for these people??

Oh no she didn't

So this isn't my story but it's definitely one that needs to be shared... more like a warning to men and a public service announcement for girls. This belongs to my friend Dick, who is on the dating bandwagon with me and has given permission for me to tell the story, and to be honest this is my most favourite dating story of all time... hands down. I am not 100% sure how Dick met Jess the dietician, but I do know that he was interested for sure. She was 25/26 (more like maybe 18 by the photo he sent me), seemed smart and from what I can tell interesting. Dick put in the hard yards with Jess, he took her for drinks, dinners, movies, hiking, picnics, the works... but by around date 6 or 7 he hadn't got any return on his investment. My advice to him was cut it away, she's young and as much as I may sound like a bitch but she wasn't putting out. I actually remember him calling me one Saturday afternoon on his way to hockey or football (sport of some description) to tell...

Another day another date

Back in August last year I can honestly say I was dating 'hard'!! To a point where I realised I had lost sight of the end goal, which was to meet someone nice to spend time with. My very good friend Dick (haha love a pseudo name right?!) and I had managed to turn dating into a sport and had become very competitive with it... Including having a competition as to who could get the most dates in a week.  Now I will point out there was a requirement for the dates to be with quality people so not just find a person and go out with them, which made it a bit more difficult. Dick won hands down, and I put that down to him being in Sydney and having more access to people than me here in Perth, although the number of people on Tinder in Perth has dramatically increased in the last couple of months. So during this competition the highest number of dates I got in a week was 3 and he got 7 - some serious commitment right there!  This is what that week looked like in terms of the guys I da...

Lie like a liar - does everyone do it?

Image
One thing I have come across regularly in this online dating adventure, is that a lot of men think it's ok to lie. I feel that there is no need to lie with anyone off the sites as I'm genuinely looking for someone to spend time with, so they're going to have to like me for who I am... not the person I pretend to be to get their attention. So when I met up for dinner with the first liar I came across, which was only the second person I went on a date with, I was left feeling very disappointment and a little bit cheated.  Unfortunately I can't remember his name, which I know is very bad, so let's call him X the Accountant. Clearly he left a lasting impression of me and almost turned me off the whole dating thing. X had been full of good banter, sounded sweet and just kind of normal, so we arranged a day and time to meet up for dinner.  At first I thought it was weird to meet for dinner so quickly and that a drink would've been better, but hey he had said he was de...

Taking the property leap

Image
As I previously mentioned, the FIFO life enabled me to start setting myself up, however the start of my property interest actually started before that. It all started when my Nanna moved into a nursing home and was forced to sell her home to pay for that move, which if you don't know how the age cared facilities work in Australia... It's not very nice and is very expensive. My eldest sister and I couldn't stand to see her home be sold to strangers, so we joined forces (well incomes) and purchased her house when I was only 19. This decision was completely made on emotion for me and then only later did we realise that we have made our first investment for our future.  This investment included tax deductions, which came in handy when we worked away, until it started earning too much money, and now is a solid base for our superannuations.  That house is a tiny 3 bedroom, 1 bathroom fibro house in the country that we bought very cheap, luckily. We've since had our parents do...

Dating 101... The rules

Image
This post is pulled over from one of my other blogs but think its important to recap for everyone. There are definitely rules to this dating thing.  Some are big and can't be broken, others can be a little bent, and some are just little things that make me run from men. The safety rules -  these are just commonsense but very important and should almost never be broken.  1. Never tell them your full name unless you plan to spend serious time with. 2. Never tell them where you live... ok I've straight out broken this ooops. 3. Meet in a public place and always tell someone where you're going and tell them when the date is over. 4. Don't get into a car with a strange guy... yep broken this one too, but was sensible enough to tell a friend including car type and maybe even a pic of the guy - well no one wants to hang out with the Claremont killer. The  conversation  rules  - these apply when talking to a guy online and in person, if these get bent or broken the...
